High School Boys Varsity Rugby

Congratulations to the High School Boys Varsity rugby team who were named the Strikers Team of the Month for April!

The boys, coached by Thomas Edmunds and Rudy Miller, went undefeated in the month of April. They defeated Benedictine in Friday Night Lights, played and won the Maryland Exiles Tournament with a 3-0 record and beat Newport News on Senior Day with an impressive 61-34 victory.

The boys finish their season in May against Vienna before playoffs on May 12th.

Head Coach, Thomas Edmunds, had to say about the team, “When compared to many of our opponents the Strikers High School Boys Varsity rugby team is a fairly young team with many underclassmen filling key roles. The young men work to improve as a team each week and have embraced the game plan and strategy the coaches have implemented. As a result, we have had a very successful spring 2018 season defeating more established teams.

We hope to carry the momentum forward as we prepare for the end of the regular season, playoffs, and state finals. I would be remiss if I didn’t recognize the parents, guardians, and caregivers of these young men because without their support and dedication the Strikers High School Boys Varsity rugby team wouldn’t be as successful.”

Head JV Coach & Associate Head Coach of Varsity, Rudy Miller also said about the High School boys, “These kids are proof of quality coaching throughout the youth levels. Following every match, we are complemented by opposing coaches on the kids' skill levels and how far ahead of the game we are in that aspect. As a coach, I take great pride in being a part of an organization that continues to prepare these kids as such.”
