Championships Kicks Off Tuesday

Top boys and girls teams in six age
groups to be crowned in Frisco, (Dallas) Texas

FRISCO, Texas (July 20, 2007) – The schedule for the 2007 US Youth Soccer National Championships to be played July 24-29 at the Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas, a suburb of Dallas is set as the top 48 teams in the country complete final preparations. Each age group consists of four national finalists, teams that won their respective regional championship, in the Under-14 through Under-19 age groups for boys and girls.  These teams advanced by winning the first two legs of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series where more than 10,000 teams (over 185,000 players) began the journey at the state and regional level.

*Advance to US Youth Soccer National Championships

 

Teams will play matches Wednesday, July 25 through Friday, July 29 to determine who will advance to play for the national title. Teams will earn three points for a win, one point for a tie and no points for a loss. The team with the most points at the conclusion of Friday’s round robin will advance to play for the national championship over the weekend.   

 

The Series is known as the ultimate destination for the country’s collegiate soccer coaches and the future of soccer.  Annually the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series provides top collegiate coaches the premier stage to identify and scout the most coveted players in the country.  In 2007, over 600 attended the US Youth Soccer Regional Championships.

Welcome to the Richmond Strikers! The Richmond Strikers Soccer Club is a 501C(3) non-profit corporation and has been providing soccer programs in Richmond for 26 years. Over the years, Strikers has grown to be the area’s largest non-profit club offering a variety of soccer programs for all ages. In March 2006, the Richmond Strikers merged with VA CASL creating one of the largest clubs in Virginia and the nation, and an organization that serves a broad geographic range covering the western and eastern parts of Richmond . Striker Park , located in the heart of Short Pump, is one of the country’s top youth soccer facilities and home to a state-of-the-art Nike turf field. Plans are underway to develop another soccer complex in the eastern part of Richmond on land that was donated to the Strikers. Strikers host several large annual tournaments including the prestigious Jefferson Cup which brings in over $8 million to the Richmond area. For all its accomplishments, the Richmond Strikers has been named one of 45 Nike Premier Clubs in America .
